Zipper Injury (Skin or Genital)First Aid & Emergency · First AidUrgent information
First Aid Approach
Calm Down & Lubricate
Preparation & Use
Stay calm to prevent panic, which causes swelling. Apply a generous amount of lubricant (like petroleum jelly, mineral oil, or soap) to the trapped area. Gently try to pull the zipper down. If it does not move, do not force it.
Safety & Precautions
SAFE first aid. CAUTION: Forcing the zipper can cause severe tearing.
When to Seek Medical Help
If the skin remains trapped after a few minutes of gentle attempts, go to an urgent care clinic or emergency room to have it safely cut or removed.
